Belgian Surfer Resident on Lanzarote Dies in Famara

The Security and Emergency Coordination Center has reported the death this Wednesday of a surfer in Famara. The 59-year-old man was a resident of Lanzarote and a Belgian national.

The lifeguards found the floating body of the athlete, next to his broken surfboard and with a strong blow to the face. After finding the body, they pulled the surfer out of the water, performed CPR on him, but failed to revive him.

The news of the death was transferred to the CECOES by the beach lifeguards and agents of the Local Police. Civil Guard agents also went to the beach.

The police services took charge of the corresponding proceedings.
