The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has said this Monday that the archipelago "begins to bend the curve" of the incidence of the coronavirus with 54 positives per 100,000 inhabitants.

This was stated by Torres to journalists after holding a meeting with the president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales.

Torres pointed out that the measures adopted during the month of August to try to stop the spread of the virus in the archipelago have allowed the curve to be bent. In this regard, he stated that currently and according to the latest data available to the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) "there are 54 positives per 100,000 inhabitants."

This, he added , is "very good data" after having reached 100 positives per 100,000 inhabitants this summer. In this way, the Canary Islands are close to the figure of "50 positives per 100,000 inhabitants" which means that countries like Germany have it as a limit for recommending travel.

"We have been gradually improving these indices, all the islands are below 100; 60, 70 the most, some 20. The best solution we have to offer for tourists is without doubt, that we lower the data of the pandemic and that we have positive figures ",
