The Lanzarote Cabildo has approved and activated the payment of regular intercity public transport tickets for travelers on the island through a bank card, which can begin to be used from April 1st . Oswaldo Betancort has stated that "the cost of this investment amounts to 281,669 euros to be able to carry out the installation of the necessary devices in 62 vehicles of the island's interurban bus transport fleet."

For his part, the Minister of Transportation and Mobility, Domingo Cejas, has declared that "with this action, a necessary demand for both residents and tourists is met." “As the payment of tickets with bank cards increases, as well as the use of vouchers, the times and commercial speed of the transport service will also improve,” he concluded.

During the month of February, tests were carried out on some bus lines: 16, which connects La Santa with Los Valles; 30, which moves inside Playa Blanca; and the two airport lines, 22 and 161 (Arrecife-Airport, Playa Blanca-Airport).
