The San Bartolomé City Council met this past Monday with Aena management in Madrid. During the meeting, two important topics were addressed: the Airport Master Plan  and the implementation in the coming months of the Acoustic Insulation Plan for homes in Playa Honda .
Aena has confirmed that the allegations presented by the San Bartolomé council will be addressed, "in which the possibility of joining the two airport terminals was considered compared to the initial plan, which proposed a greater development of the airport."
The meeting was attended by the mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez; the Councilor for Economy and Finance, Antonio Rocío; the president of Aena, Maurici Lucena; the general director of Airports, Elena Mayoral; and the director of the Office of the Presidency, Strategy and Public Policies at Aena, Ángel Luis Sanz.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, thanked Aena and its management team for the availability shown throughout the meeting, as well as for having listened to the City Council's proposals in two aspects “that will have a positive impact on all the inhabitants of the municipality and the island of Lanzarote”.
Regarding the Master Plan, Pérez has pointed out that “an expansion of the César Manrique Airport land would represent a scenario that would promote a model of greater growth and passenger loading capacity ” compared to the City Council's proposal, “which will allow an update of infrastructure, focusing on the needs of Lanzarote, with a more realistic model adjusted to the reality of the island.”
Regarding the soundproofing of the homes of Playa Honda, the mayor has recognized that this “is a historical demand of its inhabitants that finally has a start date and that results from the insistence and work of the municipal government team to reduce the alterations generated by airport activity".
