On Friday, the Teguise Local Government Board approved Lidl's application to build its new shopping centre in Lanzarote.

The technical office has completed the municipal technical work to approve both the basic and execution project for the urban development necessary to install the new store, as well as the details of the application for a major works license that includes the execution and activity project for the establishment of retail sales.
In this way, the City Council has authorized the start of works that will "diversify the commercial facilities of the municipality, offering new shopping alternatives to residents of the Costa area."
In addition, the Local Government Board meeting held this week has approved licenses for five single-family homes and six new low-voltage connections for the supply of electricity in different locations in the new development.

Rita Hernandez explained that the expansion of the Health Centre and the construction of the new school are also planned in the same area where the new Lidl will be located, "so this area will have interesting and attractive facilities to improve the quality of life of our residents."

For her part, Mayor Olivia Duque says that "a few months ago, more than a million euros were set aside in surplus for the urbanisation project in this area." She points out that "the governing group has known for years that this plan is essential for the execution of the new CEO in Costa Teguise." "This measure was one of my priorities as mayor in order to strengthen the commercial offer for residents and visitors. Thus, we will have competitive prices to make the shopping basket cheaper," she adds.

Finally, Olivia Duque has highlighted "the work carried out by municipal staff and the Department of Urban Planning and Technical Office, thanks to which the local economy and social actions in the Costa Teguise area have been boosted in recent years."
