With 7.1% more travellers, 695,099 people in total, the César Manrique-Lanzarote airport experienced the largest increase in passengers in July compared to 2019 data for the entire archipelago, a growth only surpassed by the La Gomera airport, where an increase of 21.2% was recorded.

The airports of Fuerteventura and La Palma also recorded positive data with a growth in the number of travelers of 4.3%, and 4% respectively for the same period compared to 2019. The Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna airport grew by 0.9% while the number of passengers who landed in El Hierro was 3.9% higher.

The data was not so encouraging for the airports of the Archipelago with the highest passenger traffic, Gran Canaria and Tenerife Sur, which with 1,068,205 passengers (-0.1%) and 879,562 travelers (-1.4%) respectively, fail to reach fully precovid levels.

Canary airports received 1.8% more travellers

The global calculation of all Canarian airports gives a positive balance of 1.8% more travellers with a total of 3,890,351 more people in July this year compared to 2019.

Of the total commercial passengers to the Canary Islands (3,864,890), 1,797,221 correspond to national traffic, 2.3% more, and 2,067,669 to international traffic, 1.7% more than in the same month of 2019.

Of the total commercial operations (33,888), 21,559 (+0.7%) were national and 12,329 (+3.9%) international. As for freight traffic, 2,309 tons were transported, a figure that represents a recovery of 81.6% compared to the same month of 2019.

Between January and July 2022, the Canary Islands reached 91.3% of travellers from pre-covid levels

In the first seven months of the year, the number of passengers registered at Canarian airports amounts to 23,786,209, with a recovery of 91.3% compared to the same period in 2019.

Of the total commercial passengers (23,549,356), 9,733,282 correspond to domestic flights, which represents a recovery of 94.8% compared to the accumulated total for the month of July 2019, and 13,816,074 to international flights, a 88.7% recovery compared to the same period in 2019.

The number of operations registered between January and July 2022 was 226,945, with a recovery of 95.1% compared to the same period in 2019, and the merchandise traffic recorded so far is 18,327 tons, which represents a recovery 86.3% of the figures for 2019.
