The workers of Lanzarote Bus and all the companies of the group (Guaguas Lanzarote, Jocaba and Guaguas Jocaba) have started an indefinite strike this Thursday, demanding "decent conditions".

As reported by the Secretary of Social Action of the Transport Federation of Intersindical Canaria, José Manuel Moreno, in statements to La Voz, the strike has been endorsed "by 100% of the workforce" , which currently consists of " about 70 workers ”.

However, Moreno has clarified that in the initial day of the strike "they had to cover all school services" , after receiving the night before a resolution from the General Directorate of Transport, which warned that it was "a service towards the community ” .

In this regard, Moreno explains that the deadline to call a strike in a service of this type is stipulated in "ten days" , which are fulfilled this Friday. Thus, it states that from then on, only school transport that is included in "minimum services" will be covered.

They demand a salary increase calculating the CPI from 2011 to 2021, until a new collective agreement is approved, since it has not been negotiated since 2007.

Also they request that the company does not continue to split the daily work of the workers, given that in some cases "they are splitting up to seven hours between services on the same day, and the agreement does not state that when starting the daily shift ”
