The Cabildo de Lanzarote will put the Papagayo camping area into service from 11:00 am this Friday, April 8th . For this reason, starting at 09:00 this Thursday, the institution will launch an online reservation system for those interested in attending this space, which will start operating throughout the year.

According to the counselor Myriam Barros, the prices per plot and day will be " 9 euros for motorhomes and camper vans and 3 euros for shops and huts, regardless of the number of people who are housed in them" . In this way, unlike previous years, "those who come as visitors will not be charged."

Likewise, in order to facilitate the mobility of users, the Cabildo explains that the stay in the Papagayo camping area will be limited " to seven days, extendable with another seven", and reservations can be made through the papagayo web portal. ecoentrada.com.

Users will have 25 liters of water per plot and day , since the bathrooms will remain closed for the time being. For this reason, from the Corporation they point out that it will be essential that motorhomes have an integrated chemical or dry toilet, and that people staying in huts or tents also carry a potty-type chemical toilet with them.

Of course, according to the Minister of Youth, "there will be a discharge area for gray and black water, exterior solar lights and a surveillance and security service at night." " And we are working on increasing services for the summer ", says Myriam Barros.

“However, we must bear in mind that we are talking about a camping area, not a campsite, and that although my obligation is to put it at the service of the people, it is also to do it in conditions that are respectful of money of the taxpayer , "adds Barros, who insists that "with the formula with which the camping area will be opened this year, the Cabildo ensures that the service is not deficient as it has been in previous years."

On the part of the Environment area, coordinated by the Minister Elena Solís and who has collaborated in the opening of the Papagayo camping area, it is recalled that "it is prohibited to camp in the protected area of the Natural Monument of Los Ajaches, outside the eauthorised area, and that camping without an enabling pass can lead to fines of up to 600 euros".
