The Government of the Canary Islands foresees that the works of the underground passage in Playa Honda begin at the beginning of summer. The Ministry of Public Works , Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands has awarded the company Señalizaciones Villar SA, the construction works of the new underground passage in Playa Honda
The construction of this new underpass in Playa Honda has been projected to relieve the current underground link under LZ-2 by creating a new one in parallel. This action has been promoted by the Cabildo de Lanzarote and assumed by the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Canarian Government, as it is the owner of the road of regional interest LZ-2.
The work, which will last approximately 6 months , contemplates the creation of a transversal axis under the LZ-2 that serves as a communication between Playa Honda and the Industrial and commercial area located on the other side of the highway. It is about creating another underground passage parallel to the current one , but in this case with a design that facilitates both pedestrian and vehicle traffic , favoring pedestrians and cyclists.
In addition, with the design of the new underpass it is possible to promote pedestrian circulation , through this new axis, from Avenida del Mayor to the commercial area, regenerating spaces that until now have been empty.
