Sale of Homes Plunged 54.8% in the Canary Islands in July

The data shows a rate of 63 transactions per 100,000 inhabitants in the archipelago, below the national average, which is 88 purchases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The Canary Islands registered the sale of 1,143 homes in July 2020 , which represents 54.8% less than in the same month of the previous year , according to data published this Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), which indicates that it is the biggest drop in Spain.

The data show a rate of 63 transactions per 100,000 inhabitants in the archipelago, below the national average, which is 88 purchases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Most of the homes sold in July in the Canary Islands were free (1,107) and 36 were protected; moreover, most were used (905) and 238 were new.

In the whole of Spain, the sale of homes fell by 32.4% last July in relation to the same month of 2019, which was 32,654 sales, its highest figure since last March, before the pandemic.
