Thousands of runners in Santa outfits took part in Madrid’s ‘Santa Claus Race 2021’ run on Sunday. The festive and family friendly sporting event took place across a 5 kilometer route in the centre of Madrid, with proceeds raised by the organisers going to charity.
“It’s been spectacular, like every year, really, seeing so many people running and the kids enjoying it, especially,” commented Alejandro, a participant in the event. “It’s the best thing about Christmas,” added Alejandro. This year the Santas set off to raise funds for those affected by the volcanic eruption on the island of La Palma.
Thousands of people have been evacuated and vast amounts of buildings have been destroyed since the volcano first began erupting in September.
