Lanzarote Tourist Federation, have asked that the holidays of this year be reduced to peninsular tourists who choose the Archipelago for this summer. "This is a measure that can contribute to the revival of tourism and to encourage demand," they say.
The proposal is that in the declaration of income that is made next year, include the tourist expenses made by Spanish families during the year 2020 if spent in the Canary Islands can be deducted. "It would be a great stimulus for national tourists to visit the Peninsula, Ceuta, Melilla, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands.
They point out that minimum spending limits and deductible items could be established. Regarding flights, they propose "to give a maximum discount to the plane ticket for Spanish tourists who want to come to the Canary Islands this summer, within a reference period", which they propose "for example, from July 1st to 30th September"
They consider that the State allocates each year discount on air transport to residents that could be used, and in the last three months, since the state of alarm was decreed in the country, it has hardly been used due to the impossibility of traveling without restrictions.
Along with this measure, hoteliers insist that the opening of borders to international air traffic must also be accompanied by other security measures at source, such as carrying out tests on all tourists who want to fly to the Canary Islands, as well as the deployment of traceability app "to have the guarantee of the movements of tourists and residents".
