As covid cases rise to 757, the president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, welcomed this Saturday the Military Emergency Unit (UME) which will intervene again this Saturday in different parts of Lanzarote.

At the request of the president, the UME has sent a total of 16 troops and four special vehicles to Lanzarote, to intervene in places considered "sensitive".

The military unit plans to disinfect the General and Insular Hospital and the various Health Centres on the island today, as well as the busiest streets.

Corujo thanked the UME for this new intervention, which complements and reinforces the action of the Security and Emergencies Consortium and the Red Cross that have been working since yesterday in this disinfection work.

"This type of action is essential since, despite the fact that in Lanzarote we have very capable teams, the UME has greater efficiency than the conventional ones," Corujo pointed out.

The president took the opportunity to thank the UME for its availability and commitment. "They have always been and are willing to collaborate."
