The COVD19 "Radar COVID" mobile monitoring application is now ready for installation in Spain, although its official launch is scheduled for September.

Its key is privacy , since the application does not ask the user for any personal data . The download links are as follows

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/es/app/radar-covid/id1520443509

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=es.gob.radarcovid

The pilot test of the app started on June 29th and has been developed until this past July 31st, during which time four waves of fictitious outbreaks of COVID-19 have been simulated. During its development, and despite the fact that it only worked on the island of La Gomera, more than 60,000 people downloaded the app throughout Spain.

How does it work?

RadarCOVID is focused on privacy and no user can be identified or located because there is no data registered and because the whole process takes place on your phone without leaving to any server. Both the use of the app and the communication of a possible contagion will always be voluntary.

The application uses the mobile Bluetooth connection, through which the devices emit and observe anonymous identifiers of other phones that change periodically. When two mobiles have been close for 15 minutes or more, two meters or less apart, both keep the anonymous identifier issued by the other.
