The island has worked to comply with the required times, but in this "first phase" a logistical problem leaves Lanzarote without vaccines.

The first phase of vaccination is being slightly bumpy throughout Spain and also in Lanzarote. Nearby sources have confirmed to Lancelot Digital that due to a logistical problem not enough vaccines have arrived in Spain and that is why the vaccination rate has decreased in the last hours on our island.

To date, patients were being treated at a rate of 500 a day, respecting the parameters of this first phase of vaccination. Specifically, health workers, large dependents and residences have had access to the vaccine.

The second group to be vaccinated will be the one made up of people over 70 years of age who, if we continue at this rate in Spain, will begin in March.

The deadlines are not specific since it depends on the distribution of the doses and also on the circumstance that new vaccines are approved. All this can speed up or hinder the vaccination plan devised by the national government.

Cases on the island now stand at 923 with a plan to extend the hospital into an annex warehouse for extra beds as they expecting 110 cases to be hospitalised in the coming days.

Police also raided a bar in Puerto del Carmen on Avenida de las Playas last night with over 70 tourists not socially distanced and unauthorised live music playing. The pressure is now really on and the police will take action when people make reports.
